In developing countries the rising of independent women, those who have had a good education and have a vocation that is paying them well have caused a stir in the traditional concepts of marriage. There are a whole of men who have their wives production more money than them and if there is no understanding this creates problems. As well men have high cases of infidelity and it has contributed to the divorces as well. With the unstable economies in these countries financial issues have resulted in increased domestic violence which has led to marriages breaking down.

In the eyes of the young generation the convention of marriage is becoming unattractive and many shun going through the experiences they have seen their families and friends go through. It is evident that for these relationships to work there is a need of sacrifices and compromising from both parties and this poses a problem as some of the parties do not barge from their positions.

I was listening to the news sometime and I heard that for the first time in the history of the United States of America, there were more women in formal employment than men. With the job cuts that occur it is mostly men who are laid off because of the nature of their jobs. Now inspecting that already women surpassed men in informal employment in most countries it then becomes a challenge when a man has to wait upon his wife's meagre wages or earnings. The group activities are not affordable and domestic violence increases. Can we then blame it on careers?

One big foremost factor is that most marriages lack God in them. He should be the third string in the knot but He is not a part of many marriages. With these ever changing times, if God is in our marriages He would give us wisdom on how to handle these developments. We need to save the marriage convention for the time to come generation.
